USH constantly seeks high quality and devoted hosts to add to its family. Since we consider both our hosts and our students part of The USH Family and since USH offers only the best service possible to its host and students, there are some requirements that you must meet to become a host. These are:

The host MUST live in the home that the extra bedroom is available in. That is, we are not solely looking for "rooms for rent" but for people who have a room available in the home/apartment that they live in and would like to host a student in their home and engage in cultural exchange with the student.

All bedrooms must be furnished, containing at least: a bed, study desk, a chest of drawers and/or closet space and a study lamp.

USH expects that the host will either be home or ensure that a trusted friend/neighbor will be present at the time the student arrives to welcome the student.

The host must provide the student with a safe and clean environment.

When the student arrives, the bedroom should be ready for their arrival, organized, and clean (including clean linens).

The student will be responsible for organizing the room after they arrive and maintaining it clean. During the student's stay, the host is responsible for basic cleaning only , such as vacuuming and washing the linens.

The host must give the student a set of keys to the home during the student's homestay term. Our students are all pre-screened and we have not had any history of them not returning keys or causing damage to any of our homestay homes.

Also, please note that USH requires its hosts to offer students private bedrooms . If you wish to become a host, you must have a private bedroom available to offer the students. You cannot offer a room that will be shared with anyone else in your home and lofts are not acceptable either. The private room must contain four enclosed walls. Should USH discover that a host is offering the students a shared room when they have claimed to have a private room, USH will pay the host the rate reflecting the shared price only. Shared rooms are only available when students are specifically traveling together and request to travel with a friend/suggest their own roommate. USH will notify its hosts if it is looking for any shared rooms.
