Hosting students is simple and easy and to make the process even more convenient for you, we like to provide our new hosts with a list of tips to ensure that you have a pleasant experience. These are:

Please make sure that you have an open mind to all cultures -- different cultures have different customs and you must keep this in mind when engaging in cultural exchange.
Should you experience any small problems with your student or simply need some advice on how to deal with any situation with your student, please do not hesitate to call the USH office. Our hosts and students hardly experience problems and when there are small issues, they are easy to fix, so give us a call if you need any help.
Communication: Many of our Intensive English Program student speak little English so if your student is enrolled in an IEP Program, please be sure to speak slowly when addressing him/her and if they still do not understand you, try writing it down. Sometimes reading English is much easier than listening/speaking for our students.
Students usually travel with an electronic dictionary so if your student has one, be sure to utilize it as it is a beneficial tool to your communication with them.
Be sure to post your house rules inside the student's bedroom (it is usually posted behind the door). If you do not post the rules, please hand a copy to the student directly. This will help them to understand exactly what you allow and don't allow and will avoid conflict between you and your student. USH does provide a list of sample house rules.
Usually our placements between hosts and students work very well and we have a very high success rate. However, in the rare event that you feel that there is not a good match between you and your student, please wait about 4-5 days after their arrival to give them time to adjust and see if the placement works out--usually all it needs is a little time for you to get used to each other. But should you still be unhappy after this time, give us a call and we will help you either straighten out the situation or move/replace your student.
If your student does not arrive at the expected time, please give us a call immediately so that we may attempt to locate them.
If you do not receive your host payment within 7-10 days of your student's arrival, give us a call and we will put a stop payment on the previous check we sent and re-send it.

Should you have any questions or need any assistance, please give us a call or send us an email!
